Accounting Assistant
 
The Accounting Clerk - for Accounts Payable and Receivable is a trusted member of the finance department and has the ability to work in an independent environment with supervision. Has the ability to work under a moderate noise level and has the ability to be flexible and successfully respond to multiple work pressures. Is willing to work extra hours or weekends as needed and/or directed and sitting for extended periods of time. Further has the dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.


Dress Code


· Project day-to-day: Business casual attire.


· Friday (work permitting): Dress-down.


Essential Functions:
 

  • Manage cash application to ensure all cash receipts are input and posted properly
  • Deposit accounts receivable checks via bank scanner
  • Complete Lien Waivers in order to collect receivables from clients
  • Enter invoices into accounts payable system
  • Prepare accounts payable checks
  • Assist in preparation of billing, work in progress and accounts receivable
  • Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries
  • Set up new customer accounts in accounting system
  • Scan documents into company network
  • Prepare reports and analysis to keep management appraised of results and performance
  • Special projects as needed
Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will have
 
  • Associate degree in Accounting or Financial related discipline desired or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years' experience preferred
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Excel 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency with time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member

Salary: $17 - $20/hour

Job Requirements
