Job Description



As a Payroll Specialist, you will perform a wide variety of record keeping, scanning & auditing.  This is an entry level position that will lead to payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing miscellaneous requests and processing terminations. Duties normally follow established procedures.  Works under close supervision.
 Essential Duties:

  • Sets up and review new hire enrollments into payroll system in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Weekly manual invoicing in an accurate and timely manner after each payroll.
  • Collecting, reviewing, and preparing incoming timecards for payroll.
  • Scanning and review of payrolls as needed
  • Cross-trains with the payroll specialists on various accounts as a back-up.
    • Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data. Typically uses automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll.  
    • Maintains accurate and up to date client files and documented processes.
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
    • Ensures accurate set up of pay codes, deductions, benefits, tax and direct deposit for all employees.
    • Responds to all payroll inquiries, documents in Payroll system and advices management in a timely manner

Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years administrative experience.  Any combination of education, training and experience to be able to perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Good analytical problem solving skills
  • The ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks at one time
  • Dependable and adhere to deadlines
  • Outstanding fact finding skills
  • Motivated to obtain payroll certification
