Senior Grant Accountant

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • In depth knowledge of post award grant accounting
  • Budget, revenue recognition, month end and year end close, full cycle accounting, grant allocation and restriction, incentive, labor cost and compliance
  • Experience in grant investigation and verification.
  • Experience in Federal/State and Donor grants.
  • Experience with general ledger software, Jenzabar preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and Jenzabar experience required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working under deadlines during peak times of the year.


  • Review current and future grant-funded and contract-funded projects to ensure appropriate methods for revenue recognition over the life of the project.
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
  • Review project spending and budget utilization to ensure alignment with grant objectives and institutional guidelines.
  • Prepare financial reports, statements, and analyses for grant-related activities.
  • Provide financial projections and forecasts for grant-related and contract-related revenue and expenses.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely financial reports and documentation to grantors as required.
  • Work closely with grant and contract project teams to provide financial guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant-related and contract-related invoices, reimbursement requests, and financial documentation.
