Job Description

A growing real estate company in the Baltimore metro area seeks an ambitious assistant project accountant

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Record project-related invoices, payments, and journal entries in accordance with company policies.
  • Support monthly close activities, including reconciliations of project accounts, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor construction draws, funding requests, and capital calls; liaise with lenders and investors as needed.
  • Help manage vendor and contractor billing, ensuring proper documentation and coding of costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of project costs and commitments in the accounting system.
  • Collaborate with project managers, development teams, and external consultants to ensure timely financial updates.
  • Support annual audit requests and assist in preparing schedules for auditors and tax advisors.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and accounting system updates or integrations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, construction, or project-based environments.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and general ledger principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
