We're seeking an experienced Staff or Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting team supporting a leading construction organization. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and supporting accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in construction accounting, understands project/job costing workflows (though will not perform costing directly), and thrives in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
You'll work on-site in the East Bay office, reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, and will interface with both the internal accounting team and our third-party payroll provider.
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger (GL) and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Support project and job cost integration into the GL (performed by project team in San Leandro).
Review and analyze project accounting data for accuracy and completeness.
Collaborate with external partners and internal departments to ensure data integrity.
Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
Assist the Corporate Controller in preparing reports and documentation for management review.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and project/job cost integration.
Hands-on experience with construction-related ERP systems (Vista strongly preferred).
Intermediate Excel skills - proficiency with pivot tables and VLOOKUPs required.
Experience working with third-party payroll providers a plus.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA track a plus.
