Job Description

Ledgent Accounting & Finance is seeking a strategic and detail-driven Controller to join one of our financial services client's accounting team in El Segundo, CA. The position offers a balance of both onsite collaboration three days per week and remote work, providing flexibility while ensuring alignment with our client's mission-driven organization.

As the Controller, you'll play a key role in shaping the financial strategies, managing the accounting function, and safeguarding the financial integrity of the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will ensure compliance with GAAP standards, maintain the general ledger, and oversee the creation of accurate financial statements and reports. You will also implement and enforce strong internal controls to enhance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the accounting function, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors and facilitate ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Oversee compliance with GAAP principles, regulatory requirements, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Collaborate with outside auditors, examiners, and vendors for audits and operational integrity.
  • Manage and mentor accounting staff to ensure growth, development, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze cost/revenue control, and recommend improvements for optimization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing accounting departments within financial institutions (banking/credit union preferred).
  • Strong experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • CPA license is required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
