Accounting Manager
Location: Phoenix, AZ
** hybrid position (in-office 3 days/home 2)
Large well-known Arizona based not-for-profit seeks an Accounting Manager to provide supervision and hands-on support to assigned accounting and financial reporting functions. Incumbent will perform detailed analytics and monitor internal controls. This position reports directly into the Corporate Controller and will be responsible for addressing tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee personnel, processes, and procedures of assigned accounting function(s). Assist with and cross-train in other accounting functions including account reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract billing, cash, payroll, and company milage, as necessary.
- Assist Controller with external (3rd party) and internal (Agency) financial statement, tax, program, and other audits and reviews. Prepare, review, organize and approve (if prepared by others) supporting work papers.
- Assist in the accurate and timely completion of monthly financial statements
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

- Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Variance analysis.
- Serves as backup to other accounting positions as needed.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in monthly closing processes, financial statement and NFP applicable tax forms preparation, financial analytics, cash management, accounts payable, procurement, accounts receivable, payroll processing, lease accounting, and internal controls design, testing and monitoring.
- Great Plains software experience strongly preferred.
- Strong Excel skills
- Non-Profit industry experience preferred
- Detail oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines
