A growing real estate firm in the Baltimore area seeks a qualified Property Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain property-level accounting records, including general ledger entries, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable for multiple properties, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, rent collections, and vendor payments.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for individual properties and consolidated portfolios.
- Monitor property budgets, analyze variances, and provide financial insights to property managers and leadership.
- Support the preparation of tax filings, including property taxes, sales/use taxes, and other regulatory requirements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure cash balances are accurately reported.
- Collaborate with property management teams to resolve financial discrepancies and support operational decision-making.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Implement and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 0-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, Buildium) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple properties simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with property managers, vendors, and tenants.
