We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Bookkeeper to join our dynamic property management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting and be comfortable working with both commercial and residential real estate portfolios. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely rent collection processing, expense tracking, and compliance with all accounting standards and client requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger for multiple commercial and residential properties
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for property owners and management
Record and reconcile all income (rents, CAM charges, late fees) and expenses (utilities, repairs, vendor payments)
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including processing invoices and payments
Track tenant security deposits and ensure proper accounting and documentation
Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements regularly
Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
Collaborate with property managers to ensure lease compliance and accurate tenant billing
Monitor and enforce lease terms regarding escalations, reimbursements, and CAM reconciliations
Maintain organized digital records and support audits as needed
Stay current on relevant accounting regulations and property management best practices
Proven experience (3+ years) in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within a property management or real estate environment
Strong understanding of both commercial and residential property accounting principles
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, or similar platforms)
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general financial reporting tools
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple properties and prioritize tasks effectively
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Experience with CAM reconciliations and lease abstraction
Knowledge of state and local landlord-tenant accounting regulations
Familiarity with property management software integrations
