Budget Analyst
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Budget Analyst with extensive experience developing and managing budgets of $200 million or more. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in budgeting, accounting, and ERP systems, paired with exceptional presentation and organizational skills. This role requires a self-starter who can work collaboratively with senior leadership and department heads to ensure accurate budget creation, tracking, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, coordination, and management of annual budgets.
Collaborate with department heads to gather, review, and refine budget submissions.
Present budget proposals, updates, and variance analyses to executive leadership.
Monitor and track budget-to-actual performance; identify and explain variances.
Review and approve purchase requests for budget compliance.
Prepare detailed expenditure and revenue forecasts.
Maintain accuracy and integrity in financial reporting in alignment with applicable accounting principles.
Develop and maintain financial reports, documentation, and analysis for management review.
Coordinate updates and adjustments to budgets after departmental submissions.
Provide training and guidance to staff on budget procedures and updates.
Conduct research and provide data-driven recommendations to support financial decision-making.
Qualifications
Must have proven experience independently building budgets of $200 million or more (not just assisting or providing input).
Strong background in accounting (preferably public or fund accounting) with a solid understanding of the general ledger.
Hands-on experience with an accounting ERP system.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience presenting financial data and proposals to executive leadership.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
