Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking a dedicated Construction Accountant to join their team in Georgia. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting for ongoing construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and will be responsible for managing and monitoring job costs and financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and monitor job cost tracking, including budget-to-actual analysis for multiple ongoing projects.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and job cost reports.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor invoicing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Reconcile accounts related to construction activities, including project-specific general ledger entries.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely billing and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Track change orders and ensure proper financial documentation and posting.
  • Assist with audits, compliance reporting, and financial forecasting related to construction operations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, with 2+ years specifically in the construction industry
  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction billing processes, including AIA documentation.
  • Hands-on experience using construction accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of job cost accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
