Role: Business Accounting Manager - Direct Hire!
Pay rate: up to $130K + bonus (depending on experience)
Location: Hastings, MN - fully ON-SITE

Their mission is centered on delivering exceptional value and improving the overall experience for pets and their families. This role will oversee an AP/AR Supervisor/Coordinator.
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for leading and managing core business operations across accounting, HR, IT, insurance, and administrative support. Acting as a strategic partner to ownership, this individual will safeguard the company's financial health, optimize cash flow, oversee compliance, and continuously improve internal processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Functions:
* Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and ensure transaction accuracy
* Manage bank deposits, vendor payments, and check preparation on a timely basis
* Set up new vendors and customers, ensuring complete and accurate documentation
* Create and validate invoices, credit memos, purchase orders, and inventory records
* Manage foreign currency transactions related to imported goods
* Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts monthly
* Prepare and analyze financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet) and present insights to leadership
* Process bi-weekly payroll and manage related filings (city, state, federal, sales tax)
* Monitor spending and identify cost-saving opportunities
* Track, maintain, and reconcile inventory across multiple warehouse locations
* Support budgeting, auditing, and financial record-keeping processes
* Provide clerical and administrative support as needed
* Perform job costing and profitability analysis
* Uphold and recommend improvements to internal financial policies and procedures
Business Management Responsibilities:
* Lead key business functions beyond accounting, including HR, IT, insurance, and facility operations
* Oversee HR activities: recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, handbook management, and culture initiatives
* Manage relationships with IT providers and oversee cybersecurity and system maintenance
* Evaluate and manage business insurance policies (workers' compensation, liability, etc.)
* Coordinate office operations such as phone systems, security, and lease agreements
* Monitor and project cash flow needs and optimize working capital
* Manage financial relationships with e-commerce and trade platforms
* Ensure timely communication and follow-ups across departments
* Assist in preparing cost analyses for new business proposals
* Organize employee engagement events, celebrations, and recognition programs
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* 5+ years of broad accounting experience, including strong Excel skills
* Comfortable managing multiple responsibilities across different business functions
* Experience with QuickBooks required; familiarity with Sage software a plus
* Positive attitude toward company culture initiatives (e.g., organizing events like pizza parties, team outings)
