Certified Payroll Specialist
Responsibilities:
- Collect and enter timesheets weekly and semi-monthly for job costing. Check for accuracy before entering time into payroll module.
- Process payroll via direct deposit or payroll check for 80-100 employees.
- Process 401k benefits, loan payments and tracking.
- Track and report company PTO usage to managers and employees.
- Interface with internal customers to ensure that all administrative and payroll requirements are met.
- Process online bank transfers, ACH processing, and post EFT payments into accounting system.
- Process Health Savings Account contributions, payments and tracking.
- Assist with backup for Accounts Payable check processing and payments.
- Review, understand and implement Collective Bargaining Agreements in accordance with payroll requirements for union employees.
- Enter and update new employee files into accounting software.
- Able to work with payroll and insurance auditors for annual review of records.
- Work with Accounting Manager to create, update and improve department processes and procedures using accounting principles.
- Process Certified Payroll weekly and report to DIR, LCP and EMARS in a timely and efficient manner.
- Process and pay Union Reports monthly.
- Assist with taking mail to post office and bank, as needed
Required Skills:
- Proficient use of computers including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel and Word).
- Able to create and understand Excel spreadsheets and formulas.
- Previous experience with computer software for accounting functions such as Job Cost, Payroll, and Accounts Payable.
- Experience with construction accounting software a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English in both spoken & written form.
- Strong analytical, organizational, efficiency and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain organized system of physical and digital records.
- Ability to work independently and closely with the Accounting Manager, Project Managers and Owners.
- Able to maintain employee privacy and keep large amounts of information confidential.
- Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to type at computer and talk on phone for extended periods of time.
- Being physically present at the office with face-to-face contact is an essential function of this job.
- Drug testing and background check at time of hire required.
Compensation: $62,000 - $70,000
