Overview
Under general guidance, teh Senior Cost Accountant performs a variety of multifaceted complex accounting functions, e.g., account/ledger analysis, cost accounting, account reconciliations and inventory evaluation. Prepare month-end close, semi-annual standard cost revisions, new item costing and budget planning. Analyze actual vs. budget and prepare periodic financial analysis related to inventory, material cost, manufacturing overhead, production, and work order variances. Participate in the preparation of financial audits to develop, implement, and maintain internal financial systems and processes. Partner with cross-departmental colleagues in establishing and providing recommendations for the process improvement and cost reductions in supporting the achievement of company goals. Collaborate with special projects on an ad-hoc basis.

Job Duties
- Creates month-end journal entries and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Manages standard cost in organization's ERP system and analyzes Bill of Material (BOM) and allocates labor overhead to work orders.
- Calculates aged inventory reserves, research inventory and work order variances.
- Analyzes monthly actuals of cost-of-goods sold and manufacturing with forecasted budget.
- Collaborates with the accounting team in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate accounting reports.
- Partners with accounting manager on the semi-annual cost and work center rate revisions and physical inventory count observations.
- Participates in the semi-annual budget preparation with the accounting team.
- Partners with accounting management in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual financial reporting packages, and prepares reports in response to external / internal audits.
- Contributes to internal control actions, SOX and JSOX compliance testing and documentation.
- Formulates and evaluates ad-hoc reports to sustain strategic projects.
- Prepares ad-hoc reports utilizing the organizations' Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for internal and external customers as necessary.
- Other Ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- 5 years' related experience
- 3 years in product costing and inventory control management required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) candidacy, a plus.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel spreadsheet software to quantify and illustrate moderately complex financial reports, statements, and/or projections including but not limited to Pivot Tables and V-Look Up functions.
- Working knowledge of accounting and/or financial software applications such as JD Edwards, OBI Reporting and Essbase, a plus.
- Working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Sarbanes-Oxley concepts and principles and the ability to apply them to a work environment.
- Good application of critical, analytical and research skills along with strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning, organizational and follow-through skills with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive confidential financial information in completing assignments and to abide with the organizations' business ethical standards.
