Our client in the Atlanta area is seeking a Controller for a Full-Time Direct-Hire role. This is a hybrid position.

The Financial Controller oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and audits as well as management of a regional team responsible for AP, AR, payroll, and grants accounting. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller ensures effective management of financial systems, internal controls, and regulatory processes.
Responsibilities:
· Lead strategic planning and goal setting for financial operations.
· Develop and maintain comprehensive financial data for strategic decision-making.
· Prepare and issue financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
· Provide financial analyses to support organizational planning.
· Develop and mentor accounting team members to build capacity.
· Conduct regular team meetings to ensure effective communication.
· Hold team members accountable for performance goals and metrics.
· Ensure timely payment of accounts payable.
· Oversee bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Manage endowment account reconciliation on a monthly basis.
· Ensure prompt collection of grants and accounts receivable.
· Supervise monthly payroll entries and adjustments.
· Coordinate annual financial audit and tax processes.
· Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA strongly preferred, Master's Degree Preferred
· Minimum 7 years of experience in an mid-size accounting environment, education or nonprofit experience required.
· Minimum 5 years of managerial experience with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
· Strong proficiency in financial reporting software, knowledge of Sage Intacct preferred.
· Excellent strategic thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
· Proven ability to manage change effectively and adapt to shifting priorities.
· Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.
