Job Overview:

As the Non-Profit Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial management of our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the efficient operation of our financial systems. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in non-profit accounting and a commitment to our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present accurate financial statements, reports, and analyses to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders. Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP and non-profit regulations.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and provide recommendations for financial improvements.

  • Audit and Compliance: Oversee and coordinate annual audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations. Manage relationships with auditors and regulatory agencies.

  • Accounting Operations: Supervise and enhance day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions. Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions.

  • Financial Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure effective financial management and internal controls. Update policies as needed to reflect changes in regulations or best practices.

  • Grant Management: Oversee financial aspects of grant management, including tracking expenditures, preparing financial reports for grant funders, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure professional development and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in a non-profit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, including fund accounting and grant management.
  • Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Financial Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Additional Information:

  • Hybrid Work Policy: This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with on-site presence in Pasadena, CA.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. ($120,000 - $130,000)
