Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Enrolled Tax Agent to join our team in Irvine, California. This position offers flexibility with options for remote or onsite work. The ideal candidate will hold an EA (Enrolled Agent) certification and have 1-3+ years of experience in tax resolution or tax compliance, with a strong focus on IRS ACS and state tax agency collections. You will play a key role in providing tax resolution services to our clients, advocating on their behalf, and ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Resolution: Manage and resolve client tax issues, particularly related to IRS Automated Collection System (ACS) and state tax agency collections.
- Client Representation: Represent clients in negotiations with the IRS and state tax authorities, advocating for favorable resolutions on their behalf.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure clients comply with federal and state tax laws, regulations, and procedures, with a focus on resolving outstanding tax liabilities.
- Analysis & Strategy: Conduct thorough financial analysis, assess complex tax situations, and develop tailored strategies for tax resolution.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with clients and tax authorities, providing clear explanations of tax issues, options, and outcomes.
- Documentation: Gather and analyze data, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records of client interactions and resolutions.
- Collaboration: Work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- EA Certification: Must hold a current Enrolled Agent (EA) certification.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in tax resolution or tax compliance, with a strong focus on IRS ACS and state tax agency collections.
- Tax Knowledge: Thorough understanding of IRS and state tax laws, regulations, and procedures related to tax resolution options.
- Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate for clients.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex financial situations and develop tailored tax resolution strategies.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in data gathering, financial analysis, and report writing.
- Independence: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tax Software: Experience working with tax resolution software and tools. Strong Excel skills required
- Taxpayer Programs: Knowledge of the Taxpayer Advocate Service and other taxpayer assistance programs.
- Client Relations: Familiarity with client-facing roles in a professional services or financial services environment.
