Education
 

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA highly preferred and/or Advanced Degree in a related field
Experience
 
  • 10 years of relevant progressive experience in Accounting & Finance
  • 5 years of supervisory/management position in a nonprofit organization preferred
  • Public Accounting experience with nonprofits a plus
  • Working knowledge of Head Start fiscal requirements a plus
Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly and general ledger closing, subsidiary ledgers and bank reconciliations, cost allocations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, investments and taxes
  • Supervise and review the preparation of grant/contract reports with accurate and timely submission
  • Manage all treasury operations including cash flow projections, cash transfers and debt management. Serve as primary interface with all banking and lending institutions
  • Prepare all monthly financial statements for management reporting to our Board of Directors and external stakeholders
  • Supervise and develop all annual budgets and grant/contract application budgets
  • Serve as a business partner for all senior management and content area managers facilitating their understanding of budgets and fiscal reporting
  • Provide day to day training, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluation and professional development for a diverse team aimed at enhancing their working fiscal job knowledge, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Serve as primary interface with external auditors, providing required supporting schedules for reviews, audits and tax filings. Lead all audit preparation, document submission, audit execution and post audit document submission reporting to external auditors, funders and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a proficiency with Microsoft Office, intermediate to advanced expertise with spreadsheets and database software
  • Review and develop financial policies/procedures ensuring alignment with day to day operating practices, internal control safeguards, proper recordkeeping, and file management
  • Establish global priorities, operate with a strong sense of urgency, multi-tasking as needed and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
  • A demonstrated proficiency in developing and managing positive, productive interpersonal relationships with team members, funders, vendors and other external stakeholders
