Job Description

Senior Property Accountant
Core Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle accounting for development and operating projects
  • Fixed asset accounting and depreciation on book and tax basis
  • Budgeting and forecasting on both accrual and cash basis
  • Review project job cost summaries showing status of construction and development properties
  • Review and analysis of financial packages from third-party property managers on managed portfolio
  • Set up commitment trackers and input pay applications into job cost system
  • Monthly review of general ledger for accuracy and completeness
  • Assistance in preparation of financial statements and supplemental reporting, including intercompany eliminations
  • Review monthly draw packages, capital calls, and financial packages from joint ventures received
  • Record equity pick-ups, contributions, distributions, minority interest eliminations related to joint-venture investments
  • Review of leases, contracts, and other legal documents as it relates to accounting and risk
  • Compliance tracking of COI and lien waivers from vendors, tenants, and partners
  • Weekly meetings with other core team members including, but not limited to, project managers and property managers
  • Coordination and correspondence with tax team
  • Ad hoc requests and special projects as needed

Minimum Requirements/Key Competencies:
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7 years' experience in Real Estate and/or Public Accounting preferred
  • Commercial real estate experience in industrial and multi-family property accounting as well as intercompany accounting preferred
  • Experience in property management and property development, a plus
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and ERP accounting systems, preferably Sage Intacct & CRE
  • Strong organization, planning, communication, and analytical skills
  • Flexible team player comfortable with small office environment and wearing multiple hats
