Summary:

As a Property Accountant you will be responsible for completing all accounting-related tasks necessary to produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual records reflecting the financial performance of the Company. You will work within the Property Accounting team to ensure tasks are performed timely, efficiently, and accurately. You will provide timely and relevant feedback to the Property Accounting Supervisor on challenges observed with on-site record keeping so that training opportunities can be identified and addressed prior to materially impacting financial and / or operating performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily review of General Ledger accounts (Operating Statement and Balance Sheet) to ensure the accuracy of posted activity, communicating needed re-classes to Property Accounting Supervisor and Regional Financial Manager.
  • Implementation of job costing and contract costing systems resulting more meaningful financial reporting for client real estate project investors
  • Update and maintenance of cost of sale analysis in conjunction to job and contract costing for monthly revenue recognition
  • Optimize and streamline Excel workbooks to ensure month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close of financial statements are delivered timely and in compliance of GAAP
  • Created journal entry automation Excel spreadsheets that generate CSV import files for Yardi Voyager
  • Daily reconciliation of disbursement accounts including resolution of any reconciling items.
  • Daily review of inter-company balances, preparation of transfers to clear balances.
  • Daily booking of all cash entries.
  • Prepare entries for monthly allocation of national and regional costs.
  • Prepare draw requests and maintain associated tracking and reconciliation schedules including WIP analysis.
  • Prepare financial review packages and other financial schedules
  • Prepare required quarterly reporting for submission to Property Accounting Supervisor and Controller

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related required.
  • Minimum 3-4+ years of accounting experience desired.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, look ups) required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Yardi experience preferred.
  • Experience in Property Management industry preferred.
  • Work environment is dynamic - adaptability and flexibility are needed for success.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
