Assistant Controller Job Description
We are seeking an Assistant Controller for one of our top clients in the Pinellas County area. Our client is a leading manufacturer in the marine industry, known for its high-quality and commitment to excellence. As an Assistant Controller, you'll be an integral part of our finance team, supporting the VP of Finance and contributing to their continued success.
Role Summary: The Assistant Controller role is dynamic and multifaceted. You'll handle financial reporting, assist in budgeting, maintain accounts, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. This is a fully in office position. NO REMOTE WORK- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, cash flow statements, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Execute month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Accounts Management:
- Maintain accounts receivable, ensuring proper documentation and timely billing.
- Manage accounts payable, verifying invoice validity and facilitating timely payments.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the VP of Finance on budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Contribute insights to improve financial planning and decision-making.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ensure compliance with legal guidelines.
- SOX compliance
- Work closely with internal and external auditors as needed.
- Special Projects and Continuous Improvement:
- Engage in special financial projects and process enhancements.
- Take initiative to identify solutions and drive improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of general financial accounting (experience in manufacturing is a plus).
- Auditing within the manufacturing industry
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication across various organizational levels.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and take ownership of tasks.
