Job Description

**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our construction company in Poway. This is an onsite role where you will be a key leader in both day-to-day decisions and future forecasting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly within the construction industry, and will be responsible for managing the accounting department's daily operations and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R).
• Prepare general ledger (GL) reconciliations and journal entries (JE's), and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Collaborate with the operations team to ensure projects are run efficiently and within budget.
• Manage cash flow and ensure regular completion of bank reconciliations.
• Maintain and update the system of controls and review standards over accounting transactions.
• Handle intercompany transactions efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Assist in the preparation of timely and complete financial statements and take a leadership role in managing external audits.
• Work closely with the CEO and Ownership group to complete special projects as needed.

**Qualifications:**

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Construction industry or related field.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
