Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant (CPA) is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and performing account reconciliations. This role requires a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and is critical in ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and adherence to regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • General Ledger Management:
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
    • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Account Reconciliation:
    • Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Audit Support:
    • Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Tax Preparation and Compliance:
    • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely payment of taxes.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA certification is required.
  • Experience:
    • 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate accounting department.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
