Ledgent is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant for one of our clients in Dunedin. This role is working for a large family trust overseeing multiple LLCs within the automotive and marine industry. Our mission is to maintain financial integrity and support the growth of their diverse portfolio. We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to join their team and ensure accurate financial management across all entities.

Job Summary: The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments for the family trust and its 16 LLCs. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple financial accounts within the automotive and marine sectors. You will work in a small business setting in a casual work environment with a family like feel. You will have the opportunity to be mentored by the Controller and learn about the industries they cover. Our client has high levels of employee satisfaction as evidenced by the job tenure of its current staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
  • Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, supplier's ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
  • Bring the books to the trial balance stage.
  • Reconcile accounts and help to prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll in a timely manner.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual balance audits.
  • Maintain and update financial records for all 16 LLCs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in bookkeeping and financial management.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably within the automotive or marine industry.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and MS Office.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related field is a plus.
