Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Position is responsible for daily   Accounting and Finance functions of multiple entities, developing, implementing, and maintaining office administrative systems and accounting systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, cost accounting and tax information. Key additional responsibilities include developing and implementing financial reporting, forecasts, budgets, and key performance indicators.  In addition, managing the office staff and selected activities, such as payroll, billing, collections, accounts payable and banking.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing financial and accounting information and recommendations to assist management in the following activities: strategic planning and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving financial problems; completing audits; identifying financial trends; determining system improvements; reviewing and analyzing special reports; summarizing information; identifying trends.
  2. Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  3. Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
  4. Maintains accounting controls by maintaining the chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures; properly enforcing segregation of duties.
  5. Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy, applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  6. Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing accounting regulations; recommending new procedures.
  7. Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures;; controlling correspondence; designing filing systems; reviewing and approving supply requisitions; assigning and monitoring clerical functions.
  8. Provides historical reference by defining procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.
  9. Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning department employees,
  10. Develops, improves and issue timely monthly financial records for Owners and work with third-party accounting professionals.
  11. Manages commercial banking relationships.
  12. Works in conjunction with  Executive Staff and HR Manager in the development and economic evaluation of various staff benefits.
  13. Supports audit and tax functions without outside CPA firm.
  14. Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction; other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Education and Management:  Candidates should possess a 4-year college degree with a major in either Accounting or Finance, and 2+ years of management experience, preferably in the produce or foodservice industry, is strongly preferred.
  2. Skills:  Developing Ad-Hoc Financial Reporting, Developing Forecasts and Budgets, Tracking Budget Expenses, Understands GAAP, Reporting Research Results, Delegating, Coordinating, and Motivating of Others, Attention to Detail, Developing, Promoting and Managing Standards and Process Improvement, Inventory Control, Reporting Skills, Legal Compliance.
  3. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and experience with compiling and managing various sets of data is strongly preferred.  Experience with QuickBooks is a plus. Experience with managing accounting for multiple legal entities is strongly preferred.  
  4. Payroll experience is preferred.
