Grant Accountant Job Requirements

A grant accountant typically needs to have the following qualifications:

Education: Grant accountants are typically required to have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Some of the coursework they complete includes financial accounting, auditing, taxation and business law.

Many grant accountants choose to pursue a master's degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting. Earning a master's degree can take two to three years and can help grant accountants advance their careers and increase their earning potential.

Training & Experience: Many grant accountants receive on-the-job training when they start with a company. This training may last for a few months and may include shadowing an experienced grant accountant and performing duties under supervision until they are comfortable enough to complete tasks on their own.
