Job Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, with a primary focus on sales and use tax compliance. This role requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns accurately and timely for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of sales and use tax accounts.
  • Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all tax filings and related documents.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Support the accounting team with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and other financial reporting tasks.
  • Stay updated on changes in sales and use tax laws and regulations and communicate their impact to the finance team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on sales and use tax.
  • Strong knowledge of sales and use tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
