Ledgent Finance and Accounting has a fast-growing Inver Grove Heights partner bringing on a new Assistant Controller.  If you come from a public accounting background and are looking for a dynamic accounting environment where having a sense of humor is a must, this is the team for you! This company has an open-door management policy, and a tenured accounting team looking for leadership during a heavy growth phase!

*    This position will work closely with the CFO on monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting/reporting for Operating and Development properties
*    Coordinate/Participate with Monthly/Quarterly/Year End close deadlines
*    Participate in bi-weekly or bi-monthly development/market leader meetings to gain an understanding of deal timing and impact to accounting team
*    Review monthly calculation of development fees
*    Review final distributions from sales proceeds and review/update schedules (when needed)
*    Review/Record complex development/land property acquisitions, including review of related documents, in accordance with GAAP
*    Supervise the setup/tracking of fixed assets and deprec/amort calculations
*    Review annual and newly acquired building operating budgets
*    Review reconciliations 
*    Supervise/track improvements and implementations
*    Review/track monthly management fees (including 3rd party managers)
*    Review/track monthly explanation of variances to budget within predefined thresholds for properties that have become operational
*    Review/Assist in accounting for property acquisitions and dispositions, including review and summarization of related documents and review/preparation of journal entries, in accordance with GAAP
*    Cash Management and Payables: Assist/Prepare/Reviews) submitted to Corporate
*    Prepare/Review monthly capital calls or distributions to joint venture partners (when needed)
*    Provide assistance to the HIP Properties Controller as needed and respond to urgent requests when Controller is out of the office
*    Resource for the team as it relates to proper accounting procedures for operating and development properties, understanding agreements (transactions & loans) and provides training when needed
*    Review Loan tracking that includes compliance and reporting requirements
*    Review published monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements for borrower, guarantor and JV Partners as required
*    Assist Controller with ERP system enhancement initiatives
*    Assist Controller with portfolio management and enhance processes to find efficiencies
*    Assist/Participate with outsourced accounting to subsidiary in India
*    Communicate and provide information to development directors, capital partner, auditors, corporate accounting, tax department, lenders, and others
*    Ad hoc requests and special projects

*    Supervise/Review Investment accounting; work with managing partners across multiple FUNDS obtaining financials per the agreements and review for accuracy, record equity pickups, review quarterly reporting, track equity requirements by project & review partner contribution requests
*    Review/Post journal entries prepared by Senior Accountants when needed
*    Experience with a large ERP system
*    Proficiency in Accounting Software(s), ability to analyze data, critical thinking skills
*    Advanced Excel skills
*    Ability to interpret language in governing documents; Partnership Agreements, Purchase Sale Agreements, Development Agreements, Loan Agreements, Management Agreements, and/or franchise agreements
*    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
*    Manage multiple tasks in a fast pace environment
*    Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills
*    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
*    Minimum of 4 years in Audit (Public)
