Our client in the Bloomington area is hiring for a Senior Payroll Specialist/Payroll Lead. Ideal candidate would have 5+ years of Payroll experience with a strong understanding of HR & Compliance. Must be comfortable working on site with hybrid flexibility 1-2x/week after 6+ months of training. Direct Hire Position. Up to $90,000/annually based on experience.

Job Duties/Description:

  • Manage and guarantee timely and accurate disbursement of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll to include employee maintenance entries, wages and overtime calculations, voluntary and involuntary deductions, batch import files, processing, and reconciliation of payroll.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll tax reports, including W-2 and 1099 forms, in accordance with applicable deadlines.
  • Communicate with managers to ensure weekly time sheets are complete and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Respond to all requests for employee inquiries, employment income verifications, garnishments, liens, or levies.
  • Accurate and timely processing of special pay such as new hire, true-up, bonuses, manual checks, and end of employment computations.
  • Calculate internal short-term disability compensation programs.
  • Collaborate with HR and other functional areas related to payroll changes, benefit deductions, tax withholding, and pay rates each pay period.
  • Research, reconcile and respond to federal, state and local tax notices.
  • Research, compile, review, and analyze data for special projects.
  • Manage standard and ad hoc preparation of relevant management reports.
  • Supervise, train, and monitor payroll specialist and other assigned staff.
  • Other position-related projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in accounting, business or related field (preferred)
  • 4+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Strong understanding of well-known payroll software (UKG, Paycom or ADP)
  • Strong knowledge of HR/compliance
  • Healthcare payroll experience (BONUS!)
