Job Description


1.Perform analytical procedures applied to financial data for each general ledger account of all assigned properties on a monthly schedule and coordinates with property managers on performance, variances (positive and negative trends) and reconciliation issues.
2.Track cash flow activity for each property in the assigned portfolio.
3.Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations on all property accounts.
4.Prepare accurate and timely reports including monthly and quarterly reports, as needed.
5.Reconcile gross rent potential, prepaid rent, rent receivable, accounts payable, and accrued expenses with subsidiary ledgers on a monthly schedule to ensure accuracy.
6.Prepare annual audit packages for all assigned properties to assist with audits, reviews, compilations, and tax return preparation.
7.Prepare fixed asset schedules and insert adjusting journal entries prepared by the tax preparer or auditor.
8.Analyze and maintain escrow accounts (tax and insurance), loan amortization, and replacement reserve activity of each assigned property as needed.
9.Assist Property Managers with budget preparation, financial statement review, and other support as assigned.
10.Perform annual completion of DC Property Income and Expense forms.
11.Complete other duties and projects, as assigned

1.Previous experience in a real estate environment highly desired
2.Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and the application of general accounting theory
3.Demonstrated solid conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to manage complex accounting issues
4.High level of customer service
5.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
6.Exemplary problem-solving and analytic skills
7.Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with a keen sense of urgency, work well under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines

Minimum Experience/Training Education:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of real estate accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (advance level Excel)
  • Knowledge of Yardi software required

Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, knowledge of personal computers, internet applications, standard office machines such as printers, telephones, fax machine, photocopier.
