Job Description

Position Title: Senior Accountant (Non-Profit)

Location: Hayward, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements for non-profit organizations.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Coordinate and execute month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Manage budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis for multiple business units.
  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice processing, vendor management, and customer invoicing.
  • Process payroll in compliance with federal and state regulations, including payroll tax filings and reporting.
  • Assist with external audit preparations and serve as a primary point of contact during audits.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
  • Experience with general ledger management and month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Experience with payroll processing and audit preparation is a plus.
