Overview and Purpose:
Join our client's leading real estate development and contracting firm as a seasoned Real Estate Accountant. In this role, you'll be instrumental in managing the financial aspects of our real estate ventures, ensuring precise financial reporting, adherence to tax regulations, and optimal financial operations. Collaborating closely with our finance team, property managers, and external partners, you'll play a vital role in preserving the financial well-being of our real estate assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial management of real estate properties and investments, guaranteeing accurate reporting and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with finance team, property managers, and external stakeholders to maintain financial health of real estate assets.
  • Reconcile project costs with the general ledger and prepare monthly draw accruals.
  • Analyze job cost reports for accuracy and conduct variance analysis.
  • Develop project cashflow forecasts and financial statements for various stakeholders.
  • Assist in annual financial statement reviews and audits, ensuring adherence to accounting policies.
  • Review monthly development draw packages and closing documents.
  • Maintain promote/participation schedules and facilitate management reporting.
  • Conduct post-mortem financial analysis and enhance controls for development projects.
  • Manage cash, process payments, and liaise with auditors and tax preparers.
  • Ensure timely payments of real estate taxes, insurance, and distributions.
  • Support new initiatives, adapt to changes, and achieve quarterly goal targets.
  • Navigate a fast-paced environment with ease and collaborate effectively with project managers and the CEO to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Real Estate Accountant, with at least 5 years focused on Real Estate Development Accounting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in accounting principles and real estate financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, Word, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and anticipate issues proactively.
  • Technical proficiency, resilience, perseverance, and humility.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or relevant certification is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with real estate regulations and tax laws is preferred.
  • Capable of interpreting and understanding various agreements to ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
