Position: General Ledger Assistant
Location: San Francisco
Duration: temporary
Pay: $28-30/hour
 

General Ledger Assistant will be guided by department objectives and priorities, and with the direction of the Assistant Controller, performs various activities associated with maintaining general ledger accounts.  General Ledger Assistant will also prepare detailed reconciliations for domestic and international bank accounts as well as other assets and liabilities. 

 
General Ledger Assistant duties include:
·         Preparing detailed journal entries using information obtained from various departments as a part of the monthly close process. 
·         Journal entries include but are not limited to domestic and international office general ledgers
·         Perform bank account reconciliations for the domestic and international offices
·         Independently research and clarify accounting issues, resolve outstanding items on bank and GL reconciliations. 
·         Perform the monthly review of expenses in comparison to budget of select international office ledgers
·         Assist the Assistant Controller during the interim and annual audit on various projects
·         Assist the Treasurer and Treasury Manager with processing the daily transmission of checks paid to the bank and reviewing the daily bank exception list from the positive pay system.
·         Prepare calculations, documentation and journal entries under the Patent Agent Tuition Loan Forgiveness program.
·         Review General ledger balances to identify and reclassify entries posted to closed operating units
·         Assist Finance Managers with various document filings


General Ledger Assistant requirements:
·         Bachelor's degree in Finance or commensurate experience.
·         At least 3-4 years demonstrated progression in financial reporting and analysis.
·         Law firm or professional services background with international exposure preferred.
·         Prior experience with Chrome River analytics reporting strongly preferred.
·         Working knowledge of Elite and basic Elite reporting preferred.
·         Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive, detailed data.
·         Strong accounts payable skills and business acumen.
·         Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective internal and external client relationships.
·         Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines and sometimes stressful client requirements.
